La canción se convirtió rápidamente en el más grand éxito de Queen con ventas internacionales de 7 millones de copias.

La canción alcanzó en #1 en rl Billboard Hot 100, en #2 en los charts de R&B y Disco Top 100, en el Reino Unido la canción alcanzó el puesto #7, mientras que también llegó al #1 aparte de Estados Unidos en países como Canadá, España, Guatemala y Argentina.

Debido al éxito que tuvo la canción es que Queen abandonó su estilo típico para dar paso a uno mas pegado hacia el Disco o el Dance, y el resultado de esto fue el álbum Hot Space.

En un principio la cancio no sería incluida en el album, ya que los integrantes de Queen no la consideraban "tan buena"
