La canción pertenecía originalmente a la banda Smile, que era la banda que integraban el guitarrista Brian May, el baterista Roger Taylor, y el bajista y cantante Tim Staffell.

Doing All Right es una canción muy cambiante a lo largo de la misma, presenta partes de livianas melodías pop, música folk, e incluso contiene una sección Hard Rock.

Es una de las pocas canciones de Queen en las que Brian May toca el piano.
